Charities/Community Service Programs

One of the founding principles of STARFLEET International is to try and make each community just a little bit better through the efforts of its members.  While participation in Community Service programs and the support of charitable organizations is not required, it is strongly encouraged.

The crew of the USS Anasazi has chosen to support the following charities and community service programs:

Toys for Tots:

The Marines aboard the USS Anasazi ask that each crewmember, if possible, try to purchase at least one toy (approximate value $10) each month of the year.  These toys will then be collected, added to what we collect during our annual Toys for Tots drives between Thanksgiving and Christmas and then all the toys are given to the US Marine Corps Toys for Tots program in December of each year for distribution to the needy children of Albuquerque and the surrounding area.  The Toys for Tots program has been very successful for the USS Anasazi and her crew with approximate totals of toys collected  as follows:

2000:  $400

2001:  $800

2002:  $3,000

2003:  $1,200

2004:  $2,800

2005:  $3,100

2006:  $3,100

2007:  $6,400

2008:  $2,900

Food Drives:

Our chapter has decided to conduct monthly food drives to support the efforts of various organizations in the Albuquerque area to provide food and other services to the needy of our city.  We ask that each member of the crew spend at least $10 (if they are able) each month on food items that can be collected and donated to organizations in the city to help the needy.
